The bark pieces are chunkier than I expected, so I've been simmering a small handful for about twenty minutes and the brew comes out dark and pleasantly bitter. That deep earthy taste is exactly what I wanted from a traditional herbal tea.
I've been brewing this as a tea in the evenings and the earthy, slightly bitter taste has really grown on me. The bark pieces are substantial and hold up well after a long steep.
